    grabing the foot is actually one of the defense technique against the push kick...

    see it as the "foot jab"...same as a "hand jab", it's not so much to KO the opponent, but more to look for opening, reactions, disturb opponent's timing, keep him busy, etc.

    practicing this technique with the rear leg is one thing, but the front leg shouldn't be overlooked either. Too often, people prefer rear leg push kick because it's feeling "stronger", but in a fight you got more chance to hit the target with a fast front leg...my two cents...
