Bob Nelson led a group of cryonics enthusiasts back in the 1960's. Their goal was to freez people in the hope that future science can one day revive them. Freezing people was easy. Keeping them frozen was harder... MUCH harder. A film is in the works based on Bob's first book We Froze The First Man, This American Life's presentation of the story, and his most recent memoir The Ice Knap. It will be directed by Errol Morris, produced by Stephen Zaillian and Garrett Bosch of Film Rites, and it will star Paul Rudd as Bob Nelson, Kristen Wiig as his wife, Owen Wilson as the mortician that worked with Bob, and Christopher Walken as Robert Ettinger, the man whom started the cryonics movement with his book The Prospect of Immortality. The working title of the film is Freezing People is Easy. The script was penned by Zach Helm... and it's a doozy!
This is an interview I did with Bob in my back yard. He talks openly about what he went through trying desperately to keep his frozen friends frozen. At 55 minuts it's long, but worth the time investment. Google it sometime, And please leave a comment!
