If you are going to live in society you obey the rules. Better a sound thrashing now than a bullet in the head in 5 years time.

Why our public school system has turned to S**t and the lil thuggies are taking over the world. We stopped doing this.

grouchyguy thank you for your reply. I do think however you misunderstood me. I am against violence as method of teaching. That is not to say that I am against teaching kids how to behave in society. Of course it is not enough to just not hit kids... you must educate kids with love, respect and being clear. It is very unlikely that such kids will behave violently in society. ( of course without considering people who had prefontral lobe damage)

umm i noe that gals and boys have different muscle strength and all that but i really think its unfair to just give CP to just boiz and not gals.

Sadistic, barbaric, derogatory, medieval and ineffective. Even worse the child being praded before the whole school whose assembly included girls who do not receive corporal punishment so why make the distinction between sexes? This is living in the past an reminds me of the days the British enjoyed a good public hanging. As somebody already mentioned it will hamper a child's development and ultimately achieve nothing!

Turn over a new leaf? I have read accounts of people being caned and caned again for the same offences, hardly persuaded were they? Having read the memoirs of a retired Hong Kong prison warder you have not considered the psychological implications; no doubt that means nothing to you.

You mean the parents are incapable of being parents so much so they employ a third party. Such people should never have had children to start with, discipline and respect begin in the home.

That has nothing to do with caning school children. Singapore and Malaysia has the death penalty for drug trafficking (as you no doubt know), but that hasn't solved the problem. Please don't spin me that old line it's a deterrent given the population difference where I live.

My opinion is that CP is a good thing for much reasons. It gives the youngs an opportunity to face a test, and make them more mature or harder after that. And it gives a chance to repair their acts and the feeling an authority is concerned with them.
Today, CP disappeard almost everywhere, as if it would be an humiliating treatment. But it's not. For me, what's really humiliating is not to take care of them and to be such laxist.

I think Corporal Punishment it is just a method to control the Young people easily. In my contury, It is also an issue. So people disputing constantly.

I'm not against corporal punishment but that really is a bit harsh . . . I mean if he did something that bad they probably should have just expelled him. That's pretty cruel.
