Mac Hodges B-29 - Crashes

It is disappointing for the owner. I was disappointed and annoyed when I crashed and wrote off my car. That was not tragic nor heartbreaking for me. Had someone died, then we could describe it so. Get over it.

It was a simple mistake, they forgot to put the bolts in the wing. The builder, Dan Stevens had just passed away a couple weeks before this last flight. Will miss him and his beautiful B-29. I guess Dan needed it in heaven.

The smoke was intentional to simulate a malfunction. It has been reported that the bolts that held the wing on were not installed.

Looked, on the video, like some sort of malfunction on one of the engines which led to the wing failing. Any clues as to what really happened?

Really sad to see something this beautiful destroyed.

Do you have any idea in that excuse for a brain you have just how much time and effort is involved in creating something like that B-29? Do you also have an inkling of how much of himself Mr. Hodges, or any other modeler, puts into their craft? If you did, you wouldn't make comments such as the one you made.

Tragedy? Heartbreaking? It's a model plane, for feck's sake!

wow ! but why would you attempt to flat spin such a special plane? i seen her fly in person in henderson ky 2-3years ago. unless you seen it in person you will never understand just what a sweet bird that was. hey Mac, i have some spare glue if you need it..sorry for your loss.

Wow, I'm terribly sorry for you, Mac. I've seen that B-29/X1 combo on several flights. And the low, inverted passes were always amazing.

Here's hoping the next one wil be even better!

I totally agree.
I admire the man's devotion and talent. It was sickening not only watching the plane crash but seeing his face afterward.

However, I believe he will pull through. He'll make a better model even than this one.

The one before this was only 16ft wingspan.. it crashed.. the one build afterwards, this one, was 20ft with many improvements. Imagine the next step.. it could be far more magnificent.

So sad, Mac. If ever there was an icon for giant-scalers, that plane was it.

Oh, man. That's too bad. That was a neat plane.

I almost went up there yesterday. Wonder if he will build a new one? He was well known in the RC community. Been flying it for years. So sad.

I agree, we were all in shock, couldn't believe what we were seeing. no problem at all.

Thats a real shame seeing the loss of such a great looking model. I literally has a shiver go up my spine seeing it. Thank you for sharing it with us though.
