I realize how emotionally charged the topic is. I am trying to view it with scholarly disinterest. The anti-Hitler group did keep troops from the front, but ultimately failed because, for whatever reason, the mid-level functionalists in logistics and communications did not join them. They were simply unable to get their act together. Also, not all of them were killed (e.g., Speidel) or even discovered. No matter how bad things were under Hitler, they got much worse materially after the defeat.

'Smiling' Albert Kesselring was the one who rejected the a-bomb, like all weapons systems which would take more than a year to develop - a General Staff mistake, not a Hitler mistake. Some, who sound a bit like conspiracy theorists, claim work on the bomb nonetheless continued, only to have the bomb seized by advancing american troops and used on Japan. I can only say that any other outcome would have been better for both sides, since the amis are still paying the price of empire.

you certainly know what you're talking about, Uhrhausen. Though all the Army and Navy brass hated Hitler, the self-proclaimed "military expert." Regardless, those leaders in the Wehrmacht who weren't Nazi thugs fought well and bravely. I agree, that the Germans fought amazingly well for one country against the world.

The Panzer Divisions of Germany were some of the best tank units in the world during WWII, and for that I honor them. It takes guts to fight alone against the entire world, mostly, but these guys did it, and shocked the world. This march embodies their fighting spirit against a enormous struggle, both against their enemies, and even sometimes the Fuehrer. Not all Germans were Nazis, and even the Germans fought, suffered, lived and died just as everyone else. I respect them, for that.

Conspirators who kept soldiers from the front? Wish that they had that power, then their coup would have succeeded. They didn't stabt Germany in the back. They tried to free their country from a maniac who would keep fighting untill it was completely destroyed.
