By duckky44 [Affiliate User] 1187717023 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveTo be honest with you, I think this is from '67, I've never seen Johnny move like that when he wasn't high. The look on June's face also kind of says "don't do anything stupid! Just sing! Please!"

By deanmartin1066 [Affiliate User] 1184795733 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveWow, was this in his drugs period? He looks haggard man. He was something else that guy.
By boogaloodude [Affiliate User] 1184487588 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveGives me goose bumps to see them together and how much she brightened his life. They were the best possible mates, personalities and ego together and went thru a lot. Powerful and loving.

The Link to Emery's Memories says so...
melhor cantor de musica country de todos os tempos.
nao tenho a menor duvida
As always, Johnny's performances rocked (and good to see Warner Mack shortly before his tragic end). Junior Samples was funny. Whatever became of cute Sue Thompson?
By Mktryk [Affiliate User] 1183304408 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveJune's billed here as June Carter but would insist on being billed as June Carter Cash from the time of her wedding to Johnny on March 1,1968.
I'd say this was likely taped in '67 at the latest.
Not to mention that Ralph didn't bring up June's marriage to John when he was genuinely surprised at her climbing over his lap to get to Junior Samples! LOL
June perfected the character of a loopy, flirty hick for the stage but in reality was a grounded, faithful and very shrewd lady.
I believ this is actually before 1968. I used to watch Johnny's own show in 68. And he was a little heavier than this in '68.
Love Sue Thompson.
How'd you like Marshall's book? I enjoyed it, but, seems Marshall was the ONLY "saint" in the crowd! (According to Marshall!)
By Mosstrooper7 [Affiliate User] 1182841165 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveYea, its hard to get a good picture with him playing it. I believe that was his last Esquire. I need to get off my butt and find the link to the guy who did all the work detailing what he used over the years. He's a good guy to chat with. I just hunted down pictures for them and blab about what made them tick. Man, I REALLY need to get back after lutherperkins, com.
By ellum68 [Affiliate User] 1181765613 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHey Ellum, is this like the 2nd ever time us Luthermongers have ever seen that Sunburst Esquire? You're better at the cataloging his stuff than I...
By lerb21 [Affiliate User] 1181588081 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveHe may be referring to the time that the 3 major networks went all color, NBC and CBS in '66, ABC in '67.
By georgecostanza80 [Affiliate User] 1178135422 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removepoor johnny with the umbrella. god. cheesy.
By nickatdusk [Affiliate User] 1177199154 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis is likely the last appearance by Luther Perkins before his untimely and tragic death on August 5, 1968. I like seeing Johnny here filled out a bit from his previous haggard, gaunted look when he was doing the pills.
By Carters01 [Affiliate User] 1173545654 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveReally great clip. I'm not quite sure what Ralph is talking about though when he says color TV was only two years old in 1968. I was watching color TV back in '62 and it had been around for a few years even then. Bonanza was broadcast in color starting in 1959 Anyway, it may be likely he meant it was new at the station he was primarily working at. It's great to see a clip from this time frame and I thank you and Mr. Emery for this great glimpse of the great Johnny Cash.
By CrosleyMonarch [Affiliate User] 1173308860 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThe album (with John holding a microphone with eyes closed) is; Johnny Cash's Greatest Hits Volume 1
By Groundhog2265 [Affiliate User] 1171894693 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThis could very well be in 1968. Johnny never really did have a huge life-change we all think he did in 1967. He quit for a few months, but after Folsom was doing a lot of drugs again (according to Marshall's new book). Can anyone make out the album behind him?
