THIS IS FINAL APPROACH AND LANDING OF THE AIRBUS A380 JET AS IT LANDS AT THE EAA AIRVENTURE EXPO 2009. CAMERA POSITIONED 2000 FEET FROM BEGINNING OF RUNWAY 36. WINDS WERE 260 AT 10 GUSTING TO 17. SO THIS WAS A LANDING WITH A REAR LEFT SIDE CROSSWIND. FULL STOP WITHIN 5000 FEET AS IT WAS ABLE TO PULL STRAIGHT IN TO THE PAVILION. IF YOU NOTICE THE JET IS AIMED OFF CENTER AND TO ITS LEFT DUE TO CROSS WIND JUST BEFORE TOUCHDOWN WHICH GIVE THE EFFECT OF THE A380 AIMED RIGHT AT THE CAMERA.

    I'm a pilot also, so how do you think he was going to correct the drift on a narrow runway in a huge AC in a stiff crosswind, dropping a wing WASN'T and option, and being a pilot you would know that . unless you want several hundred ton of AC skating through the parking.

    Im a pilot. its still poor crosswind technique to hit crooked like that. Land with a wing down into the wind and top rudder to hold the airplane straight.

    you do know that the Airbus has composite wings designed to flex and that it was a demonstration of short field performance by AB, the AC was also landing in a crosswind and that accounts for the crabbing. While it wasn't a greaser it was no more than a solid landing. Admittedly it wasn't a pretty landing by any stretch, especially at Oshkosh in front of thousands of pilots and armchair experts :-)

    You dont land in a crab like that or saw the power off and drop like a brick. Look at how much the wing flexed because of the impact.
