The F22 is the best plane i think out in the world rite now

yf22 was the mroe conservative concept, and included 2dimensional thrustvecotring(updown) while still having some stealth elements, but not soo much that it becomes unpayable. YF23 was optimised for stealth and speed and lacked of thrustvectoring. since stealth was expensive it lost. jsut wonderufl if you askme is hte joint rudder elevator which enhances speed and stealth.

ditto. which leads you to the 2d thrustvector system which can be done easily in the yf23. ah.. useless to discuss the "if had s" of it now. YF23 was friggin faster, and stealthier, which leads you to costs again. (stealth costs alot. filthy lot, not jsut lot lot)still think its the better jet. and a retractable thrustvector orsimply two flaps above and below hte exhaust stream and it would be almsot perfect. The REAL reason why the YF-22 was picked hasn't been released yet. The stuff said in this video is not official, its just leads (Pentagon picks plane, NOT air force)

I think the main reason is, the YF-22 meets all the ATF requirements at a lower cost then the YF-23, and it's more maneuvorable at subsonic speed.

Both planes are super sexy if you ask me, but yeah F-22 is probably more practical for the time being.
Why not just shelf the YF-23 until it's needed? Or at least some of its design elements.

Looks like the Raptor does everything better. But Eurofighter is not far behind.

its more than look. it comes the closest to my idea of an ideal jet- optimising airframe for speed and stealth, leaving agility only to thurstvector, which it didnt have yet. Shes a beauty. some certain angles.. its so beautiful. it makes you wanna cry. they picked f22 because it was cheaper to operate and more conventional. its beauty became its weakness when an oldfashioned general searched a conventional jet.

The F-22 may have amazing capabilities and features but its predecessor the F-15 has been extensively proven in actual combat with a perfect kill-to-loss record.

So in essence, the F-15 Eagle is still the flagship air superiority fighter of the USAF. F-22 being new (with uncontested dominance technically) has plenty to prove since we all know stealth isn't everything on a battlefield.
