  • Exactly. I do love ...

Exactly. I do love Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery - but it's a shame that other players of the past are considered minor or remembered as footnotes only known to specialists (add Eddie Lang, Oscar Aleman, Luis Bonfa, Speedy Hayworth etc). Anyway, most of the rock guitar-heroes of the 60s and 70s pale in comparison with these names

  • Tamborr Having ...

Tamborr Having studied many great players in all styles going back to Django in the 30's; I have been saying for a long time these players should be more well known; it's up to all of us: Danny Gatton, Lenny Breau, Scotty Anderson, Johny Smith, Hank Garland, Jimmy Bryant, and Joe Maphis. Django Reinhardt, and Wes Montgomery get more coverage than the others.

  • Ya know..I LOOOVE ...

Ya know..I LOOOVE Bryant/West..and not in ANY way to minimize their greatness,or how influential they both were...but it seemed to
me Speedy spent an awful lot of his time showing off with Hot Dog stunts on the steel, as opposed to playing actual MUSIC! I understand this is how he expressed his wacky
humor-but it still bugs me!Anybody else care to weigh in?

  • When discussing ...

When discussing guitar pickers, the names of Merle Travis, Grady Martin, Junior Barnard, Eldon Shamblin, Phil Baugh, Hank Garland etc. should be mentioned. They're amazing guitar heroes, each one of them, and can easily be compared to the greatest ever or now living - in all guitar styles.

  • Im very interested ...

Im very interested in some of the top ten country/jazz pickers of influence? Who were some of the others and why were they important? Are you familiar with Alvino Rey? I did get a chance to see Carl Perkins with the Johnny Cash show which was great and Mom used to take me to the "Barn Dance" in Chicago where I saw the Thompsons who I believe were a father and son (Bobby) guitar team who were awesome!

  • I do hope more of ...

I do hope more of the modern rock debate of who is the greatest of all time in the Jimi/Jeff Beck/Page debate while they are mulling over their individual preferences and to also get a chance to explore Jimmy and Speedy--along with Django who remain the original inspiration for those three founding fathers of modern rock, a little more to have a more COMPLETE foundation of dazzle guitar history!
