It's always fun to watch the carrier landings. Though, I wish they would mention all the crew, not just the pilots. The flight engineer was just as important as the pilots. His name was Ed Brennan, Aviation Machinist Mate First Class. I flew with Ed during the mid 1970's in Patrol Squadron 56. Had some damned good times (and a few scary ones too) with him.

Well, it cant be that hard to make a folding wing C-130. You'd only need about three or five.

It'd be better than most ASW carrier aircraft, could deliver a huge payload on target for a "Naval" craft.

There's a solution for all it's problems on a carrier, but there's no solution for the problems only it can solve.

The size of the Hercules limits it's usefulness on an aircraft carrier. As the wings do not fold & the aircraft cannot be taken below decks for any sort of maintenance.
A carrier may only be able to operate 2-3 C-130's compared to 70-85 aircraft in a carrier air wing. Although an AC-130 looks cool it is not as flexible or fast enough for combat operations. If an AC-130 is required anywhere it is usually forward deployed.

Why dont we exploit this ability more often!?

Put all our gunships on a carrier, and increase that global range to unlimited!
