simple fact its about money... the things ppl do dont make sense it makes money. Its hard 2 care about rationality and fairness when your income is based on you acting a fool.

THIS IS THE FIRST PART OF MY ESSAY THAT GOT CUT OFF.:D The most common response a rapper will give to an accusation that his/her music may possibly influence a child negatively is, "but look at movies with the guns and shooting..." in this instance Arnold in Terminator was the example. A large part of a rappers success is attributed to his ability to come off to the public as genuine. His/her fans must believe that the persona portrayed in their music is credible.

cont'd...Less than 1% of all aspiring rappers will become successful. This being common knowledge among rappers, why not inform the children of this fact and promote education and other realistic avenues to prosperity, if, promoting entrepreneurship is the actual goal.

cont'd...If Damon Dash and Camron actually believed that the darker aspect of their music doesnt negatively impact children, then why not acknowledge that side instead of avoiding it and attempting to persuade people that their music is about "promoting entrepreneurship", and "promoting that it is cool to be smart". Of all the camron songs i've listened to i've heard a lot more of what his wealth allows him to buy, and a lot less of this manual for becoming a self made CEO.

cont'd... If someone is to enjoy a certain type of music, to some extend that music must reflect some part of their lifestyle or their desires. eg. If you're a kid whose never had a girlfriend and arent interested in finding one, you wont listen to love songs. So at the very least we have to admit that the music we listen to is related to some element of ourselves.

cont'd... This isnt the case with Terminator. Aside from the fact that the movie is so removed from reality that children cannot relate to the character, there is a basic assumption that the story and the personality is fictitious. Simple as this, children do not imitate terminator they dont walk around like a robot ,talking with a monotone voice and an Austrian accent. But you do see children dressing like camron, speaking like camron, behaving like camron... imitating camron.

The music sounds good but who cares about your ghetto.. this S**t causes huge problems in America... be the "author" of things other than street S**t ..

Yes people make their own decisions but that doesnt mean that kids choices and decision are influenced by it im just saying. lets just say hypothetically that if there was no rap, we will just use rap as an example,do you think there would be less gangs/gang violence in America?

How is that? No one makes anyone do anything. People have free will and choices. That's like saying oh i did this because of this... no you did what you wanted to do. No one is to blame for a persons own actions. We all have free will and we all make choices. Now people can become products of their environments. Rap is not only in the hood its all over the airwaves. Crime is everywhere just to say but the media focuses on the poor environment where people can be ignorant to say band rap.

Rap doesn't make anyone do anything but make money for the young African American CEO's. The stories that are told in rap music are what has already happened. If children listen to this and are influenced, who is to blame? Parents should be aware of what their children are picking up. Parent discretion is advised! The music is artistically put together of incidents that really happen in the hood environment. If they already live in the hood, then they can relate. If not, they learn about it.

That's why you got all these wanna be gangsters with guns trying to come up in their poor neighborhoods selling drugs and gang banging the way that their beloved artists the only people most look up to have came up. i agree withe cam parents are majorly to blame but music has a vast effect

i get rap i listen to a lot of rap. ill level with you on the racist thing you might be right, that their are jealous white man undertones. but the main point is i don't know how you can say rap music doesn't affect young kids.
