I find carbon to be little easier. It is a very different weld and has different characteristics and is more forgiving than stainless.

You can really learn a great deal from the Steamfitters Union and make some good bank.
well i am going to apply for the steamfitters apprentiship program as soon as it starts accepting peaple in march, so i can be a fitter/welder because I am a "if you want it done right do it your self" person. i work on second shift and i usualy have to clean up after first shifts mess'es like leaky welds, bad fitup, and general lazyness. they lost the passion for being a true craftsman

I used to hate those fitters that would wine and cry about having to work and they would take advantage of a good welder and try and shame you into fighting with their sloppy fit up.
