Kokoda was arguably Australia's most significant campaign of the Second World War. More Australians died in the seven months of fighting in Papua, and the Japanese came closer to Australia than in any other campaign.
The Kokoda Track (or Kokoda Trail) fighting was some of the most desperate and vicious encountered by Australian troops in the Second World War. Although the successful capture of Port Moresby was never going to be precursor to an invasion of Australia, victory on the Kokoda Track did ensure that Allied bases in northern Australia, vital in the coming counter-offensive against the Japanese, would not be seriously threatened by air attack. Approximately 625 Australians were killed along the Kokoda Track and over 1,600 were wounded. Casualties due to sickness exceeded 4,000.
The song on this video is timeless and honours the memory of those who have died in the service and defence of Australia in war.

By letsfknrumble [Affiliate User] 1205476972 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeaussie soldiers prove themselves again and again... outnumbered and ill-equiped they still come out on top.. our pride and passion for our country is all the ammunition we need.. and as the president of the RSL said "we do not condone war nor do we encourage it..but let it be said that any enemy should think twice about taking on the sons of anzac"

I am walking the track in May, and videos like this really help motivate me to push through the training. In reality it is absolutley nothing in comparison to what the soldiers went through. (But it still hurts - and those mountains look bloody high!)

A heroic fighting withdrawl back along the Track to Ioribaiwa Ridge where they were ordered to dig in and fight to the death or until relieved by the AIF scrambling up the Track from Port Morseby to reach them. Churchill had tried to counterman Curtin's orders for AIF to be returned to defend Australia. Australian victories at Kokoda and Milne Bay were first defeats of the Jap. Army in WW2.
By blueycarlton [Affiliate User] 1203725927 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removethe defeat of the Japanese at kokoda was the first defeat of the Japanese army, this is from c grade Australian troops. Tobruk is important from the prospective of Rommels opinion, but kokoda is a more sacred battle.

Acknowledgments would be included with the video and the video would not be for sale. (Comment by the author of the song).

By revelation100 [Affiliate User] 1203149316 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveUpon Being asked why he was being pushed back by a "Commonwealth" division at El Alamein, Rommel replied, "it is not a Commonwealth division, it is an Australian Division, why, give me 2 Australian Divisions and i will conquer the world for you!"
By revelation100 [Affiliate User] 1203149174 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveMy dad was at Tobruk. There is no more important battle to Australia then Kokoda it was the battle for Australia. You cannot even compare the two battles. The divisions that fought in the middle east were the cream of Australian manhood, the soldiers at Kokoda were second rate chocolate soldiers.
