That's where you are wrong... they don't have "back" problems, German shepherds that perform in these events get cleared of hip and elbow dysplasia before they are bred. It is a myth that people who think they know about dogs perpetuate. Not all breeds look alike, that is why breeds exist. Just because it looks different does mean it "hurts".

I agree with you Those ski slope backs are horrible. That is not what old GSDs looked like. I guess thats the style now. I hate it & you will never see a working dog with a back like that.

We had a few when I was growing up.
The female in particular was such a sweetie.
Her name was Tara.
She lived a long and happy life with us and died at the age of 12.
Which is about the age Sheps go.

Obsessively Line-breeding for certain qualities such as a favored gait or a sloped back, can only end badly for the dogs.
My Sheps had straight backs.

any good german shepherd would instinctively give its life in protection of Shawn Colvin...or an American Shepherd for that matter...

I love GSDs, and these dogs are gorgeous, but I'm sorry, I do not like the sloped backs. I agree with you. I am against breeding dogs for certain traits that end up causing leg problems as they get older. Then it's the dog that suffers.

Finally, someone who understand how a german shepard needs to walk. I have also one german shepard but he's no show dog but a working dog. His back is strate and doesnot walk like a frog.

Sorry these dogs are terrible, running on their rear pasterns & strung up Thak goodness they are not typical of working GSDs & are American type GSDs their rearquarters & pelvic regions are obviously very unstable !
