Dexter - Season 3 - Promo Trailer

The scan was real. While he's having it done is when the dream occurs; since it's only a dream, I suppose one could conclude the images were just how Dexter would imagine the scan to look like, and Harry telling him what they meant.

After the dream ends, it's on to the next scene. I really don't think there was anything significant about it beyond some symbolism to tie in to the rest of the episode, about Dex being apprehensive of becoming a father.

So... did he really get the scan or was that a dream, too?
I just can't imagine a doctor doing a brain scan like that and seeing such a thing, only to keep his comments to himself.

I'm not sure if it comes up again... there's a dream sequence with Harry showing how his brain is just like that of a convicted serial killer, although it's presumed to be Dex's own imagination telling him that (like the other dreams).

Does Rita see the results? What does the Dr. say?
Or does he somehow get it "unofficially"?

When they decide to keep the baby, and Rita asks if he has any family history of medical problems. I think #3 of the third season.
