I've heard pilots try this scenario in the simulator, and none have been able to land the plane. The landing they got was probably the best possible under the circumstances. I hold Captain Haynes, First Officer Records, Second Officer Dvorak, and DC-10 Instructor Fitch in the highest regard for their efforts that day.

that guy doesnt know an airplane from his grandmas underwear. its all about the attention. but me, i RODE in that airplane and did a barrel roll. almost lost control but lieutenant Glockenspiel hit the eject button in time. It was quite the ride. The plane hit the ground immediately and blew up into 17 seperate pieces. We went on a search to find them all but it was too late, someone had already found the golden monkey and it was all over, but at least we had the laughs... lots of laughs haha...

I am firefighter for the U.S. Air Force. So I guess I am into planes. Plus I fly an ultralight aircraft.

I was just there May-September 07 at Sather Air Base, which is at Baghdad International Airport. That DHL plane has been cleaned of decals, although you can still see the paint fade of where it said DHL. Just before I got there, they had two new engines placed in, and fired them up, but forgot to remove the wrenches and destroyed the engines. So there it still sits.
