Foster Brooks on Dean Martin Roasts

I did another one... I've watched some of the roasts in the Dino era, and some of the new ones...
I'm not a prudish one, or anything close to bigotry..but..there was so much more style in 3 words by foster brooks than in any louthmouthed bragging "comedian" of the new series... it seems that what they do is to compete in vulgarity and grossness instead of comedy..

Almost as hilarious is how there are young morons here actually going out of their way to trash this. They must be too juiced up on today's "comedic" offering of profanity laced tirades about three-way sex, fecal matter, homosexuality, dope smoking and so much more(of these same things)!

Wow, someone here thinks way too highly of themselves. I understand though, how putting up a tough, pseudo-hipster front for strangers may serve as a good coping method in a reality so full of social alienation that your own parents reject you.

I'm not one of those prudish xians you talk about, not even close. Just because a comedian uses the "f" word doesn't make him funny. Brooks was hilarious. It wasn't only the drunk routine, he had great lines also. Dino was laughing from his belly, if you can't see that, get some glasses. So was Rickles.

My goodness I was talking about this video he was not drinking at this time of his life.

Larry is correct. Foster had a drinking problem until 1964 when he was challenged to a bet of 100.00 to stop. He never drank again. In the very beginning of this video, Foster leans over to Dean and asks, "Your not going to shake my hand?"..Tis' hilarious!

Sorry, but he did have a drinking problem at one time. Do a search on him and you'll find it.

Foster Brooks was not a alcoholic, he didn't drink alcohol at all.

I'm 37 and I grew up with my parents watching this stuff and It's great watching it all over again. To the newer generation it may be boring, but good it really is good solid humor!!!

Most all of these celeb's have admitted that Foster was one of the funniest men ever. He not only plays the drunk well, but his material was excellent. He will be missed. He died in 01', way too soon.

It's just not very comvincing.

He didn't need to be convincing. He WAS an alcoholic, after all.. and a bad one, too.

What do you expect him to do? Start throwing up to make it more convincing?

Too bad the comedians of today don't have the kind of class these guys had! Brooks was a genius!
