When approached by Spread the Net to be an Ambassador, Glen Pearson, MP London North Centre didn't hesitate. For almost 30 years, he has suffered from malaria. In 2002, he and his wife adopted their daughter, who also has malaria, from war-torn Darfur, Sudan. At the time Mr. Pearson had been told that his daughter's family had all been killed, but on a return trip to visit her village, they discovered their daughter's identical twin sister and older brother. They have since adopted the other two children who are being treated for malaria in Nairobi before coming to Canada.

Glen Pearson has been an active community figure in London since he first became a professional firefighter 29 years ago. Involved in numerous causes over the years he became perhaps best known as the volunteer director of the London Food Bank. In 1998, along with his wife Jane Roy, Glen began human rights and development work in Sudan. This work has included building schools and infrastructure, fighting modern day slavery, community development and supporting local enterprises as they enter into the competitive world market system.
