Now I wouldn't, but as a teen I would have called myself a Christian despite knowing little about Christianity & what it teaches. Religion played no part in my upbringing other than presents at Christmas & eggs at Easter. Because I called myself a Christian, did that make me one--though nothing in my life reflected the tenets of Christianity? If I identify as Ethiopian despite having no characteristics, does that make me Ethiopian? Not necessarily.

Your avoiding the law of identity. It is a simply as that. You wouldn't say your a muslim if asked, would you? More important is the fact that these are not atheists who commit these crimes.

I don't see how Christianity avoids responsibility. As a Christian, I have a responsibility to love all people, to care for the environment, and to "live at peace with everyone" (Romans 12:18)--among other things. That's a lot of responsibility.

To me, it's kind like calling the US a "Christian nation." Not everyone in America is (nor wants to be labeled) Christian. Growing up, I was told that everyone who celebrates Christmas is a Christian, everyone who celebrates Chanukkah is Jewish etc. But that's inaccurate. I can celebrate Chanukkah every year of my life without believing or following the Torah & Talmud, things followers of the Jewish religion assert their faith requires. This is the sickness of your faith. If I am told by someone that they believe in god I accept it. Just as I would expect someone to believe me when I say I'm atheist. You want to escape responsibility.... Which is what your faith is about.... Avoiding thinking. You can't call them atheist.. If they claim jesus their savior then who are you to say otherwise?

Those statistics are assuming that everyone who calls themselves a Christian is a Christian or lives a "Christian lifestyle." There are a lot of messed up and heinous things done "in the name of God" that He certainly wouldn't condone. I think about Jesus, who promoted non-resistance throughout the New Testament, being used to promote war (but that's a soapbox I won't climb right this second).

Let's keep something in mind here. Not ALL religions are forceful and voilent. The ones are, are to be avoided. That is YOUR choice and I hope and pray the right one.

I am very touched and feel this would make a big hit " let us decide " not the government what we want to hear. Like I'm always told about the things on TV, if you don't like it don't watch. Same should go for them.

I have absolutely no problem with anyone practicing their religious beliefs WHATEVER they might be as long as they do not hurt anyone (including me) to do so. That was basically one of the primary ideas of our founding fathers. They were tired of having someone else's religion, which they did not believe in, forced down their throats. That's how I feel now. I am not an athiest but I am an agnostic and honestly, I get real tired of having your God pushed down my throat all the time.

Your very wrong.... All the crimes you speak of our the crimes of mostly christians.... Atheists make up 10% of the population, and only 0.02% of the prison pop. Xtians make up 75% of the pop., and 75% of the prison pop. the world around you is your vitues brought into reality. Its your people that ruined this country.... It's not about political correctness. It is about separation of Church and State. If you are okay with a Christian majority dictating this.... would you be okay if we swung toward a Muslim population and had to "place our hand on the Quran" or recite a pledge of allegiance that included Allah? I am a follower of Christ, but I don't want to dictate or be dictated to by the "State" what I have to believe....
