I think your new president should:
1) STOP spending disgusting amounts of money with it's personal "holy crusade" on the middle east. no wonder why they want to throw atom bombs at you.
2) care about the climate! Katrina and this new one are samples of what WILL happen if we don't care. these are not only human losses, but financial too so you have to consider it an economical matter too. no use hiding.
I think only these measures will help you a lot on human and tecnological developement.
