Clearly you all need to read your yoga texts and get into the non judgemental aspect of it, and can i also remind you that the yoga is not just the practical,i trained in india and it was 2 months before i even did class,so stop judging and look at yourselves

  • yeah i recently ...

yeah i recently started yoga and thats not something for beginners..its something more of patience and breathing and moving in your own comfortable way...you can go straight-way to that kind of stretching and moving if this is first time..their are a few asanas that are very good for beginners...so far after watching a yogini i have made my own workout routine that fits my body and beginner status and its good because it could take only 15-30 minutes which is good so i can do it every morning =]

  • I agree with the ...

I agree with the previous posters that this teacher is not presenting yoga very skillfully. There are many people teaching yoga in America especially that are undertrained and underqualified. I would recommend teachers like Scott Anderson if you're looking for someone with more experience and an understanding of the anatomy of the body - not to mention what to teach to students when.

  • Yes, I do agree. ...

Yes, I do agree. This man does not know how to teach Yoga. It may look artistically interesting, But he does many details wrong. And details are very important in Yoga. Anyway I think one does need a well-educated teacher as a mentor at least in the first years. And a good teacher is hard to find, but he should have gone through a 3 year-education and he should still be a pupil of an older teacher. I recommend registered Iyengar-Yoga-Teachers.

  • Pranayama must be ...

Pranayama must be approached very carefully and must be accompanied by a very strong asana practice. The breath is a powerful tool, and such practices as fire breathing and ujaii, while in and of themselves are a good thing to do, can do more harm than good if the nervous system is not prepared for the work. Two years of solid asana practice is the minimum before pranayama should be introduced (as a seperate practice!!) Also, ujaii during asana can be restrictive. Breathe quietly!!
