To be legal an ultralight cannot exceed 254 pounds so I'm trying to start by jet engine with a small Lithium Polymer battery that weighs less than 2 pounds and can ouput 187 amps to my cool sounding Global warmer.

I'm a gas turbine engineer and I must say you did a hell of a job. And I guess you would want to do your best if your lifes at stake! I'm drawing up some plans to build a GT for a wheeled vehicle. Great Job!!

Thanks, ... a guy could probably make one like this with $10k of surplus parts - plus a whole lot of hours.

  • Yes, so far. It ...

Yes, so far. It seems to just run and run and run --- nice when everything goes around and around in the same direction. Feed it oil and fuel, keep it cool, and it's like the Energizer Bunny Rabbit, just keeps on going. Makes me feel good at 2000 feet on a warm day.
I need to try burning french fry oil, then I'll not only sound good but I'll smell good too!

  • I didn't build it ...

I didn't build it from scratch but assembled parts from two different ultralight kits and adapted the engine from a APU/Starter turbine. Yes - I'm now a DIY jet aircraft test pilot! Checkout my latest video. Thanks!

  • This is very cool. ...

This is very cool. Are you going to get this plane in the air? Would like to know more about this project and its progress. Did you build this engine specificly for this plane and did you build the plane yourself? And from your name I derive that you can fly. Are you going to be the test pilot?
