Homebirth Video - Amanda's Home Birth Story

Hi Amanda , We share the same name, and I'm almost at 20 wks. Unfortunately my husband and I live over 3 hours away from a midwife or birth center and an hour away from a good hospital. I would love to have a water birth but I have a condition called Bicornate Uterus, (google it) so I fear that puts me at too high a risk to give birth out of a hospital. My mother and Grandmother have different levels of the same thing and they both had c sections for all their babies. :(

It depends on the midwife. The cost of hiring one varies quite a bit by location and their level of training, the general cost of living in your area, etc. I know that the average CPM in Maine charges $2,400. But most are willing to work out payment plans or barter for part of the cost.

can i ask u a question? im pregnant and i want to have my baby in home... but i don't know how much does the midwives ask u on the paycheck... so would u help me? how much does it cost having a baby in ur home?

Great video! I had a home birth with my second child, and felt it was easier to cope with the discomfort of labor because I knew that pain meds weren't an option, so I focused on what options I did have. I felt safer and more loved at home. It was the right choice for us and I plan to have my future children at home as well.
