This is terrific Van Morrison. His voice hasn't sounded this good in years. Which is fine, since I'll be seeing him in concert next month.

You can make scientific research about a person. Believe me. Believe me, I've studied history and now I'm studying literature.

no - the matter is much different regarding differences in scientific research which is typically a guessing game based on a theory and Pure plain gossip innuendo and total BS...
there is a rather great difference between the 2 subjects- one is a human being and the other is a basis theorem- take care

If I understand what you're saying then you can never make research on a person (whether or not the person is alive) as long as he/her never said anything! I don't think you'll ever become a Ph.d. but that's ok. You just can't study anything without having some first hand comments. Wow, that rules out a lot of scientific researches and scientific results. If it's out of pure respect for the artist then you're arguments on the this matter are useless.

true! how can there be TRUE RESEARCH research when the subject himself IS ALIVE and has said no such thing?? Apparently, no 'author' has even made attempt to obtain HIS take on any of the "books" "commentaries" "quotes," etc. -300 to 600 page books all written without the slightest courtesy or attempt to involve or ask HIM -anything- regarding *HIM* -- most 'info' out there is from ppl he has been disconnected frm for years, mostly DECADES -

It's always the problem with famous people. Do they want to be famous or not? Do they want a myth to be build up around them? If you take Bob Dylan for instance, I think he feasts on the myths. But in this case, I don't think it has anything to do with that. It's called research. Like when you make a thesis at a university. You can't always get the key figue to talk but and then you ralate to the facts. In this case he was in Vanlose and had a relationship with Ulla. It was an obvious conclusion

same... but "why would someone talk about it at all?" is what i believe he would say- "why imply talking to someone or visiting MEANS anything at all? ' is the other... from what i gether he has gotten the impression by experiencing it that ppl use him so they can SAY these sorts things....and ALL THESEV DECADES later... I just feel sorry for him thats all

Nice chatting with you too. I understand what you mean, and I actually somewhat agree. I know he's opinion about gossip and stuff and there are many myths when it comes to Morrison. But he was often spotted in Vanlose and Ulla Munch is a real person. I don't think she's just a starfucker trying to get famous by telling lies.

regarding the 'book" - did you know that NO person who has EVER written a Book mentioning Van Morrison has EVER even Bothered asking Van any questions nor verified ANYTHING they ever wrote or asserted as "truth" in ANY of those books? This means every book about VM or his Music is from gossip and other peoples own minds... that is quite sad to do to a man who has given so much of his life to his music.

he has said he gets quite wary of other 'aspiring' singers & tw*ts trying to ride off of his name with these kinds of stories... Van Morrison is the ONLY one that knows what the true FACTS are and he has too much class to spew all the time...it is always those OTHERS trying to hitch their pony to his wagon- for the illusion of some kind of fame with NO BASIS what-so-ever-Anyway, nice chatting w you. Oh well. He has said many things. I'm from Denmark and I know for a fact that he lived a while in Vanlose with his lover. Not long time ago there was written a book about Vanlose and he is mentioned.

he has said in the past its a made up song from a mish mash with no 'particular" reference--- oh well, would have to be 1914 stuff anyway...
Seems like he has refined the song brilliantly into "current time" references

The story is almost correct. Vanløse is a part of Copenhagen in Denmark. His girlfriend's name was Ulla Munch and she lived in Vanløse Gade (Vanlose Street). The stairway could be a reference to the nearby Vanlose Station. Or it could be the stairs in the apartment where his lover lived on the fourth floor.
