Lanyards : How to Make/Braid One!

I have seen some very simplistic lanyards all the way up to fine artsy type oens with steel or titanium beads and addidtives, from knifeforums to the flashlightforums...I wodul say the most talk and pictures showing lanyards dotn come from the knife sites, but rather candlepowerforums as well as edcforums...the guys who amke them tend to be into all kinds of gadgets and not just knives...

On looking through the collections of knife collectors or 'torch-a-holics' (that's UK speak for "flashaholics" :), I often see the most beautiful, chunky, colourful braided rope lanyards. I'm not sure if they're custom/home made, but I can't find anything close to the quality of lanyards I want on general sale. Unfortunately, I am also kak-handed when it comes to handicrafts and making stuff on my own.

So, I don't s'pose you knife dudes know anyone in the hobby that makes/sells them?

all the paracord I use is 550 paracord meaning it has 550 lbs breakign strength, I dont know its width off hand but it has 7 inner strands of white nylon cord...

Is that paracord with a diameter of 5 mm?

what i use is the stuff that they make necklaces out of,like the celtic ones,pretty tough stuff and strong,looks like leather,and easy to use.

The only place that might have paracord woudl be an army surplus store...or perhapos an outdoor store that sells camping gear and stuff...

hey great demonstration but where can i get para cord like that other than an internet like a hardware store like home depot or ace or somthing?
