kurt thomas DID NOT invent flares. Canadian gymnast PHILIP DELASSEL invented them. Kurt Thomas was the 1st to perform them at a F.I.G sanctioned event that's why they got named after him, he however wasnt the 1st do them. (in bboyin terms he bit the move and got the credit )

By petter106 [Affiliate User] 1219133085i don't want to mess with a gymnast when it comes to flares
but i don't think a gymnist would want to mess with a bboy when it comes to windmills, halos, and airflares
let's not fight over whose move is whose
we will do our thing to entertain our audiences
and you gymnasts do your thing to entertain your audiences okay? okay..great!
dude99966
we borrowed your move and made it more creative, can we not be proud about it?
your statement: "Unlike most "bboys" to this day believe that they invented the flare and the circles" cannot speak for any bboy nor anyone. bboys never invented the flares, mr. kurt thomas did!
Unfortunately, some audiences prefer bboy powermoves over gymnastic pummel horse routines...and vice versa.
it take years to just get the hang of bboy powermoves, let alone "master" it.
and so does gymnastics
we took the gymnastic flares and circles into another direction = creativity
our flares (imma bboy too) might not be as clean and well formed as gymnasts, but we were able to use the flare as a guide to create moves like threading flares, airchair flares, anubis/solar flares.
im saying bboys invented a lot more moves associated with the flare move as its backbone. but bboys NEVER INVENTED flares.
the guy who invented flares aka "thomas flares" is the gymnast Kurt Thomas
bboy isn't gymnastics
gymnastics aren't bboying either
let's not mix up these two categories:
bboy is a dance
gymnastics is a sport
bboys knows the dance moves, i do not believe bboys invented the flare, nor the butterfly twist, nor alot of the flips
the original old school breakmoves are windmills, headtracks/halos, and airtracks/airflares
flares were introduced into bboying by, ironically, a gymnist
i have to give gymnist props of having the most "beautiful" flares
wow how hard is it to get your legs as straighten as these gymnast?? please tell me o.o
By Shin0Kyu0Sang [Affiliate User] 1218703974maybe its me but i think you guys are spelling boys wrong. And i feel bad for each and everyone of those ppl.Thats embarrasing
By Alexandria10109 [Affiliate User] 1218690530You think you know everything. Yes! "bboys" aren't very educated, but your superstition is wrong! How is it ignorance? Is it because I see the same moves repeatedly used and think that way?. double backflips, full twists, etc...yes they're hard but they need form. If it's not perfect it's not the move or won't get higher points. Ability because if you can't do it, you can't do it. Worst of all, you lack discipline. Chiding about what you know.
By supersaiyanboi [Affiliate User] 1218505998Yeah but look at the difference in strength, difficulty, time invested into it... There is no comparison yet in your previous comments you have made "bboy is like the more perfect version of gymnastics!" I don't see the comparison at all. You also show ignorance towards us when you say things like "I think Gymnastics is just form and ability." I never said you or bboys were stupid you are misinterpreting what I am saying which shows your lack of education.
By dude99966 [Affiliate User] 1218500856And how long have you been in gymnastics to learn that double back? And how much help have you had? The only IRONY you see is your comments. I only saw most of your descriptions, but sadly there was no triple back. and Oh you can do a double back which is called kovacs. I can spin on one hand and push off with my hands and land on my shoulders which is also called 1990 transition suicide. When you say other people are stupid, you're just ranting yourself.
By supersaiyanboi [Affiliate User] 1218499363Well since you say you've never seen it perform here you go.
watch?v=h45IJnQXKPg
I am able to do the double back tuck which is called Kovacs. Can you do me a favour can you read my comment just a little more carefully before you decide to comment, because you just proved that you are illiterate. It's funny how you don't understand irony. Check ^_^
First of all can you do that? Second I've never seen anyone perform that. I would love to see you do that on a horizontal bar if you can do it like you said then I would love to try if i ever take gym practice. ReCheck yourself. =.=
