    Chemotherapy (the treatment) causes the hair to fall out. She will lose it all eventually (temporarily) during the course of treatment. Most people, instead of dealing with the trauma of losing their hair in patches over a few weeks, chose to get rid of it all at once. An element of control, and it looks better.
