Actually, NONE would claim to be heros, when in fact they all are. First or second flag raising. There's no difference whatsoever except the second became iconic and the most published photo in history.

I'm not saying anything against it, but those same guys that raised the flag minus the 3 dead would all say the same thing that they shouldn't get the credit but the original crew should

Again I state, It was President Bush who stood up to the terrorists on that terrible day and drew a line in the sand and said "No More!". Somewhat like the sands of Iwo Jima and the brave troops there back then.

Only three survived the battle; Ira Hayes, John Bradley and Rene Gagnon. Mike Strank, Harlon Block and Franklin Sousley never made it out alive. It was the worst, bloodiest battle of WWII. I recommend Flags of Our Fathers, the book, it's great.
