I think this film just shows how messed up the typical family is now-a-days

Bleeker had no dad...

& they had a kid together, which they give up for adoption !

their kid would just continue the cycle

They separated when Vanessa found out Mark didn't want to have children. They had very different priorities (he wanted to be a rock star, she desired to be a mother). So, she raises the baby on her own. Something tells me she would have been fine, though. She was a born mother. Everyone should be so lucky to have a mom like that.

and this song is so amazing as well...it's just so perfect. it fits the movie so well. kimya dawson from the moldy peaches is coming to my town on wednesday...i am dying to go just so i can hear this song haha. i wish ellen and michael would be there to sing it though! that would be the only thing that could be better. :)
