Back-story - Marta had a tight deadline to get a bunch of shirts silk-screened. I offered to help. I got no response. Foolishly thinking that she was going to slack off and abandon the project, I called her out on it. Within a day I received an email from Marta containing a video of her silk-screening the shirts with extraordinary skill and efficiency making sure to hold her work up to the camera, flaunting it, as if to say "Me? Slack? Bite Me." I had been served. This meant war. --- SPOILER --- Within a few days, I had devised my rebuttal. Marta was going to get served -- hard. In this film I am making one of Chloe's (her daughter) birthday gifts. (The stencil is of Chloe.) The film finishes with me actually taking the finished work and putting it on display in Chloe's bedroom, during the party, unbeknownst to Marta or anyone else there. I then quickly added it to what I filmed the day before, rendered it, and said "Marta I need you to come look at something." She was shown the film, sitting in the room next to the secret artwork. Secret, until the end of the film. BAM. SERVED.

    Since the Acetate won't absorb any paint that can happen, but if it the chances are you're using too much paint.

    Yes, however, I have had that problem. You just have to be confident that a little paint goes a long way - it does.

    ive used that before but i had the problem of the acetate getting proper mucky even though i was using minimal sprays, it seemed to end up on the back a lot which fucked the piece up, you have any similar problems?

    Yeah its hard to find acetate, i had to order i from the net. No art store in phoenix has it really. I just got an exacto knife and im getting used to it but it doesnt cut how i want it too.

    Yup. I get it from my local art store (Blue Rooster in Los Feliz / Los Angeles) for a few dollars / giant sheet. It never gets soggy or wears out like paper or card stock. Plus, for stencils that you don't need sharp lines on you can use a stencil burner (as opposed to a razor) which melts the plastic. It's much easier to do sharp corners.
