Used my wood gas stove/forge for the heat source.
I checked the voltage coming off the solar panel after I ran the test. With the bright sun the voltage coming out was a little less than 12 volts. No wonder the flames were so high and the fuel burned up pretty fast. My bad. I have to adjust that so the fan runs at 6 volts.

you might consider using a "rocket stove" for your heat source. A rocket stove is easy to make, burns very hot, uses fuel very efficiently and would not need the fan. for example see youtube video "rocket stove" wRbr3KsEjeE
