His parents were Visrawasa and kaikasi. His story was one about his fall from grace. But still, at the end of the battle with Rama when Ravana lay dying, Rama sat at his feet and requested Ravana to teach him the precepts of the scriptures and to extoll the qualities of a ruler.

There is in fact a Prto Indian Iranian group which came into dominance, who mixed some of their folk lore with the gods of native dravidians. People of Iran call themselves Arians still.
