  • While all this is ...

While all this is going on, the mass media tells us over and over again that guns are bad, and many people are gullible enough to believe it, so they vote for politicians who promise to make "feel-good" gun laws which of course don't affect criminals one bit.

We have already become a nation of cynics and I don't hold out much hope. There are just too many brainwashed people who think the horrible things that happen in other countries could never happen here. After all, we're a FREE COUNTRY!

  • In this way they ...

In this way they erode our rights little by little. Recently after a hurricane, police raided the homes of law-biding "upper-middle class" citizens and confiscated their weapons because they were afraid that they may use them in defense of their homes!

Even the head of the NRA is saying that he's willing to compromise on gun laws. There's a video of him on Youtube saying so.

  • Our government has ...

Our government has already banned automatic weapons and certain types of ammunition, even though the Constitution does not specify any exclusions.

Depending on what state you live in, there are different restrictions. I am originally from Massachusetts. There, you must have a permit for ANY gun, and the police chief of your city decides whether or not he will issue you one. They also have a maximum magazine size of (I believe) 10 rounds. Same type restrictions in California.

  • The good thing ...

The good thing about law is it applies to everybody. Even criminals. It has to be that way, it is called 'due process'. Plus that leaves people open to commit murder... luckily the guy who died wasn't alone, dead men tell no tales. One might not be a thief and somebody shoots him in the back claiming he is, on their own property... who will say otherwise? The only other person who knew would be the one that died.

  • will it be possible ...

will it be possible to ban them, under your constitution? the thing is, governments have too much bloody power as it is. As you say, banning weaponry removes power from the people. we used to believe in freedom in the UK. but now, its being eroded. never forget that many of us over here are proud of what you guys have achieved and done in such a short history. dont forget why the US was built, dont let ANY politicians change who you are. otherwise you will end up like us.. a nation of cynics.

  • well, i believe if ...

well, i believe if someone breaks the law they should not be protected by it. i'm tired of liberals (not suggesting anything about your personal politics, by the way, i don't know you!) and human rights lawyers in my country giving criminals an easy ride. the guy the farmer only wounded (he was shot in the leg) has subsequently been given 18 months for dealing heroin. well.... dealing heroin with a limp....i've no sympathy for him. zero. nada. like i said, I'd have made sure I got both of them.

  • Um, sorry to say ...

Um, sorry to say but the farmer shouldn't have shot the guy and rightly went to jail. Shooting somebody who is fleeing is taking the law into your own hands... if the thief was a possible threat to the farmer AT THE TIME then he would be justified to shoot. Otherwise it's basically vigilante shooting.

  • there was a case in ...

there was a case in the UK where a farmer had been plagued by thefts from his home by a few local scumbags. one night he had had enough, and during another raid he shot one of the lads in the back as he fled, killing him. the farmer went to jail. only difference between him and me is- i'd have got both of them.

  • its bizarre logic ...

its bizarre logic really. we were told "no civilian requires a firearm in a civilised country." but, we don't live in a civilised country.... gun and knife crime is rife in the UK, let alone in the US, as long as the criminals and lunatics have weapons the other side should have them too.
