A quick glimpse of the first test flights of the V2 version of Doblhoff's jet tip powered Helicopter, constructed at the Wiener Neustadter Flugzeugwerke. It was the world's first helicopter to employ jet propulsion. The WNF-342 V2 seen here in operation flew successfully in 1943. It weighed approx 450 kg.     giggles... probably because I didn't have an actual soundtrack of the Doblhoff ! That deserves a cigar., well spotted..
    The Doblhoff had an piston engine and decent size blades so fair to imagine it would be hard for an untrained listener to tell the difference except for the shrill noise from the tip jets.

    They did. The FA-223 had machine guns fitted in the nose and could carry and drop bombs.

    The Fl282 observation chopper was tried with an additional rear seat and the passenger could fire weapons from this position.

    Sorry It's a bit boring folks but the brief clips were isolated from a TV story about early choppers and the film makers were probably unaware of the identity of the Doblhoff. It suggests there is probably quite a bit of footage available but its significance wasn't recognised and broadcast.
