Have made a few adjustments to the engine. However I dont think they were improvements as the engine has developed some loud clicks, and doesnt seem to give as much power output (notice when i stoped the engine I had to give it a push to get it going again. Last run It was difficult to keep it stopped as small movements would set it off again)
I have also added a chimney/flue, but it turned out to be way too narrow and I couldnt get a good fire going because it choked. So I had to pull some bricks out from the 'furnace' walls to let some of the gasses escape which is why there are flames/heat escaping in all directions and why the the engine is turning relatively slowly in comparison to the ammount of fuel burning.

Hopefully this video shows some more details of the engines construction, and reveals how crude the engineering is - just proves that anyone can make a engine that works.

I know the efficiency is very very poor. so please dont tell me that. Thanks.

    I doubt there is enough pressure to flex the pipe, but you have a very good point.
    It is worth noting that the long length of hose creates dead air, which does no work, but does absorb energy. Like a pneumatic spring.

    With this in mind I have started a new engine, with the displacer cylinder mounted directly onto the power cylinder - check out my other videos if your interested.

    You might be loosing some efficiency if that rubber garden hose is expanding and contracting even slightly. Grab it with your hand while the engine is running and see if it feels like it's "breathing". If it is then that's energy that would be put to better use working the air cylinder. Nice job.

  • Ingenious solution ...

    Ingenious solution for the displacer crank. It works like a camshaft, so with a little shaping of the crank/disk you could have the displacer dwell longer at the top and bottom of the cycle which would improve efficiency.

    blower would certainly help, i might give this a try soon (and film the results) but would rather get the fire drawing naturally to save using up energy driving said blower.
