    But do you not realize that rock music today would sound COMPLETELY different without the existence of Beethoven and this specific work? He did things in this symphony that no one had ever done before. Without it, Classical music would not have evolved; not in the same way at least.
    Classical became Romantic because of this, which led to Impressionism, which led to jazz, which eventually led to the popular music that's around today. So without Beethoven, your "real" music might not exist today.
