Plus birds in the wild will bite at each other to tell each other off.
By Allopexx [Affiliate User] 1220854157 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThere is nothing wrong with doing that. It is used as a negative reinforcement. It's not like you are beating the bird up or anything. The bird just thinks that when ever it goes to bite you your hand wobbles. Therefore it connects the two and realises that by doing so it causes its own punishment. And thus it stops. Some birds will continue to bite even if you ignore them. Having my own birds that have bitten. I have found that gentle negative reinforcement works much better than ignoring.

By richyloike [Affiliate User] 1220800673 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveNEVER WOBBLE YOUR HAND WHEN YOUR PARROT IS ON IT, our parrot will lose all trust in you and will never bond with you properly, it could also devolope trust issues not just with you but with every human it sees, parrots find it hard to forgive, unlike demestic dogs.
'negative reinforcement' does not work as parrots are not demestocated in the slightest only positive rienforce ment will EVER WORK his means for everything correct they do you reward and everything wromg they do you ignore, simple.
What about truly aggressive biting with no fear?

thanks
hey the bird is not moltng because first of all if the cockatoo was then the greys would be too because they tend to do it at the same time, secondly the reason it is loosing the feathers is because it is self halming due to boredom or being left alone to much and if a parrot does this it is hard to train them to stop...... hope this helps people
