MT 1998: Import Car of the Year Lexus GS 300, GS 400

Fuel efficiency and crap. I drive a 2002 (same generation as shown above). They had more horsepower, were larger, and had more steel. My 2002 GS300 weighs about 400 LBS less than a Crown Vic and gets about the same gas mileage as one. A very safe, sturdy, well performing car. The new GS's get about 25MPG (vs 21) and weigh about 200 LBS less. IDK why they didn't make the new GS better performing. I guess they figure a performance junkie would go for an IS-F

i dont get it...why didnt lexus do even better when it comes to performance with the new gs!!

I agree take a look at my GS in my video.

This GS has the rough look to it and its very powerful. I know the new one has more power but this more seems to more powerful...i think because lexus advertise the new GS as a luxury car and technological advance car...instead of a performance car

I recorded this back in 98 on TNN sunday's. I still have the VHS recording today. I love how the Lexus bad boy smokes the caprice highway patrol At 4:43 and that crazy drift at 2:05. Today's GS I heard it hard to disable VSC

i agree, although the new ones progress the styling in a nice (read elegant) way, the previous just possess what I want to say a 'baddass' persona! Thumbs up for this gen!

The new ones S**k I have a 2006 bmw 525i which is overrated. This GS 300 looks better than most of the cars out there. You can mod it and uut honestly looks better than the 3 series and 5 series. My 2001 GS 300 can perform, not as sporty but has acceleration and decent handling with nice, sleek looks.
