Denver's Pit Ban Bull

I have to correct you on that, pit bulls were never bred to be aggressive towards humans! Think about it, in a fighting ring there would be 2 handlers and a referee. If these dogs were people aggressive do you think the sport would have lasted as long as it has? They were bred to be a part of the family. Dog fighting disgusts me just as much as BSL or ignorant people who think this breed is man aggressive.

As much as I hate to admit it... about four years ago I was a "Non-Pit Bull" person! But after my husband grinded himself in the ground begging me to get one, I gave in. Yep that changed me for ever. I really hate how stupid I was for just giving into the steriotype! I love my Pits and wouldn't ever give them up. NO ONE WILL TELL ME WHAT I CAN AND CAN'T OWN!!!

In Minnesota, a State Representative is already trying to add Rotts, Chow Chows, Akitas, any mixes of any of those breeds, or any dogs displaying any "characteristics" of those breeds.

Pepole are ingorant, let them ban pits wait and see what they will ban next.

There's a reason why Pit Bulls have been the predominant fighting dog for decades: They have been bred to have jaws that exert hundreds of pounds of pressure per square inch, when biting and they have also been bred to be extremely aggressive by nature.

All of your "dogs don't kill people, people kill people" rhetoric is misguided and foolish. I will never EVRER fully trust ANY strange dog, but especially a Pit Bull, no matter how "sweet", "kind" and "harmless" you say it is!

There are certain kinds of dog which should be banned, becasue they are dangerous. However, classifying such dogs by breed is impossible, and therefore banning them is impossible. There are too many breeds which can be described as "fighting breeds". It is, therefore, impossible to implement a ban of such dogs through blanket leglislation.

I am really glad the connection between pit bull bans and bigotry has surfaced in the comments on this video. Since these pieces are actually produced for the radio, and have a set amount of time, I did not have time to mention the connection. People see so-called "pits" as "black" or "hispanic" dogs, and all of their racism goes right into this issue.

This video made me curious, and I ended up learning something I didn't expect to learn.... cool. Note to Berserker: your comment on "negros" didn't go unnoticed. It is offensive; please go and learn something about race, the history of slavery, prejudice, ethics, manners and human kindness. Then please use what you learn. Thanks.

Saving lives of kids ? SAVING LIVES ?? How are we saving lives ? If you ban a pitbull what good will it do . The crackheads will just switch to another breed . Rottweiler , Doberman , or German Sheperd . its the irresponsible owners who let there children beat on the dog and wack it and when the dog attacks the first thing thats going to come out of there mouth is " I thought it would be safe i didnt know the dog was going to attack ".

I didn't know there was a ferret ban in NY. When I lived in Connecticut in the 70s, I had a pet ferret that I got as a baby. When I moved to Calif. I had to give him up. Ferrets are not the best pets in the world and can bite your finger off and he tried a few times to do just that.

Your answer to the problem is not quite that simple. Banning or regulating any breed of dog would cause responsible Pit Bull owners to lose their dogs while the thugs who raise them in backyards for fighting would hide their Pit Bulls and go underground. If all Pit Bulls were successfully banned, then Rottweilers would just take their place in the fighting arena and subsequently, they would top this list of dogs most involved in fatal attacks on humans.

Ferrets were banned in California for instance, for other reasons. Ferrets have no known natural enemy in the wild in California and wildlife experts were worried that if they multiplied, ferrets could destroy the ecosystem and wipe out some already endangered species. The ferret ban has nothing in common with BSL laws.

So my question is Why aren't humans banned? You don't see shows that are TOTALLY based on pitbulls and how many pitbulls have committed a crime that day, but you do for people. Murderers, of course you know that word. But the silly thing about murderers is that they have a chance to defend themselves, and use BAIL. Now as far as I'm concerned, pits aren't able to bail themselves from death, and they can't speak for themselves, so murderers shouldn't be able to either.

Humans are a breed that obviously will never be perfect, but you and I know that they would never think to ban a race. There are tons of good natured humans out there, then there are 'vicious killers'. Sounds rather familar, doesn't it. Yeah, because people label pits as vicious killers when it's their owners that have trained them to be that way, whether they trained them or not, neglecting them and withholding them them from society is just as bad.

Pitbulls are not monsters, people are. In case you haven't noticed, CodyTheDog, there are tons of crime shows on television (America's Most Wanted, Cold Case Files...), and wanted people for various reasons, mostly involved in murder and physical assault.
