This is footage of the band performing one of their hits, "Make Me Smile", only 3 months after it hit the Top 10. Infact, it was their first big hit. So, this footage is obviously very old.

It was filmed on July 21, 1970 at Tanglewood in Lenox, MA.

This features the original band which included Terry Kath, Peter Cetera & Danny Seraphine. The other four musicians still tour as 'Chicago' with their replacements. Quite nicely, I might add!

Enjoy!

  • I agree!! Terry ...

I agree!! Terry Kath was a "guitar genius, composer, and vocalist. He ranks up there with Clapton, Jimi, Johnny, and all the rest. What a shame...another "wasted talent". RIP

OH man, how much of this concert is known to exist on video?! This looks like something that oughta be out on DVD!!!! I can't understand why they've never released a DVD of the 70's era Chicago concert footage!!! Terry remains a massively under appreciated talent!

  • Chicago's best! ...

Chicago's best! Hendrix once lamented that Kath was 'a better guitarist than me' I don't know if that was true, but like Hendrix, his life was cut tragically short by a stupid decision. He put a loaded gun to his head (thought it was empty)and pulled the trigger. Sad.

  • i know i did...... ...

i know i did......im just 16 and discovered terry kath like a year and a half ago and i was like whoa.....he's the reason i picked up the guitar and ive listened to alot of chicago, playing horn parts and trying desperately to figure out how he did some of the things he did with his guitar, it blows my mind when i hear some of their songs that ive listened to like a thousand times.....it still sounds far beyond great

  • the guitar players ...

the guitar players 30 and younger,I can hear thier mouth hit the floor when they realize Terry Kath had the pure talent to unleash that kind of music out of his guitar in a time when there was only basic effects to use. too much effects is like plastic surgery,it may look and sound attractive but thats not really you. So many years have passed but if he were here,Terry could hold his own and surely knock out several of the best players of today.
