This is a jet engine that my friend and I built over a couple of months. It is based on a brand new Garret automotive type turbo charger that was originally meant to go on a large displacement gas engine such as a Porshe 911.

There is still alot of work to be done such as a jet nozzle, afterburner, 12v electric oil pump, cluster gauges, optical RPM readout, and the ever critical pyrometer.

This run used propane as the fuel source but accomodations have been built into the combuster for it to also be fueled by kerosene, jet fuel, diesel or any other low flashpoint fuel.

We do recognize the danger in capturing the video in regards to the placement of the cameraman. It was done as far away with zoom as possible and was done solely to capture the best angle shots for viewing the mechanics of the turbine.

Pretty cool man. Im a solar turbine specialist. Its fun to mess around with this kind of stuff. When you get your 12v oiling system put a oil pressure murphy switch in series with a solenoid on your gas supply. that way it will monitor the oil pressure and if something was to happen mechanically it would shut off the fuel supply. Good job man
