That's really a shame. I wonder if the race tracks need to be elongated after that horrible crash. What a shame.

THat makes no sense. If they make the race 1000 feet instead of 1320, they'll just be maxing out the cars to run 1000 ft. instead of 1320, they'll have the explosions at 760 ft instead. You'll still get explosions. That makes as much sense as people who want to lower cubic inches to make racing price competitive, as if it's the cubic inches that cost money instead of internals of the engine.

I hate to see the sport change but we are losing to many drivers. I think NHRA needs to step up and either slow the cars or have mandatory length shut down areas. If there is not enough room at a track to make the shut down area longer move that race to a new track. There should never be a concrete wall for a dragster to drive head on into!!!!!!!!!

im not saying scott is the idiot. he was a great guy and will be missed. i was responding to another comment someone had put up about scott saying he deserved it for being in the sport. must have been misplaced on my part.

did anyone agree with jim heads soulution of running to 1000 feet instead of the whole 1320? he said after 1000 thats when all the trouble with parts failure and engine explosions mainly happen. i think the existing tracks just need improved. thank god for bandimere speedway in denver. shutoff area is uphill and almost 1/2 mile long. it just means more cars have to be pulled off at the end of the run but that seems alot better than the kalitta outcome. god bless his family and loved ones

watched his Dad, Connie(the bounty hunter) Kalitta when i was in my teens and went to the drags in the Chicago area whenever i could...
