Background music is Bowie's "The Jean Genie" which was composed and recorded in New York City, where he spent time hanging out with the Warhol set's Cyrinda Foxe.
In David's own words 2 years ago "This song started out as a lightweight riff thing I had written one evening in NY for Cyrinda's enjoyment, I developed the lyric to the otherwise wordless pumper and it ultimately turned into a bit of a smorgasbord of imagined Americana ... based on an Iggy-type persona ... The title, of course, was a clumsy pun upon Jean Genet". May Cyrinda RIP

By strangebrewtoo [Affiliate User] 1207133165 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveCyrinda Fox appeared in the original video of Jean Genie. The line 'he screams and he balls' (not bawls), is aptly related to Dali whichever version of the word you choose!! However, I think it refers to Iggy Pop. Many people believe the song was written for Jean Genet the French writer. There are also reference to Alister Crowley 'keeps all your dead hair for making up underwear' refers to evil spells which might be cast using the above. Ah the 70s!!

By 78thesweepstakes [Affiliate User] 1207026610 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI knew about the absinthe. Did you spot it in all the madmen? Between dioxin and thujone he was really piling on the yellow! Life imitating art or vice versa!
By thegasworks [Affiliate User] 1207024209 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI didn't realise that - you're a mine of information Patrick. Think I'll take you home and sit you on the shelf! lol! You said digoxin toxicity - would he/his drs. have realised this at the time do you think? It's amazing to think that through his illnes we are left with such a beautiful legacy!
By thegasworks [Affiliate User] 1207023966 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveVan Gogh also drank the liqueur absinthe on a regular basis. Absinthe is a green, bitter liqueur primarily flavored with wormwood (Artemisia absinthium). Absinthe also contains thujone, which fuels creativity and yellow-tinged vision. Van Gogh's increasing use of the colour yellow and blue in the last years of his life is considered related.
By 78thesweepstakes [Affiliate User] 1207000133 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveVan Gogh's had both epilepsy and dropsy(cardiac failure common secondary to strep). These were treated with digoxin from the foxglove plant (Digitalis purpurea). His famous work, "The Starry Night" contains yellow circles around the stars, which are similar to visual problems described by patients with digoxin toxicity even today.

By thegasworks [Affiliate User] 1206979669 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveGreat vid mate! Walking on Snow White" could refer to John Hubly's older Walt Disney animation work on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs' which is also present in the MOMA.
By toowoomba123456 [Affiliate User] 1206895889 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveGreat pick up! Did you notice Bowie's words "Talking about Monroe"could also refer to Warhols work which is present in the museum!
By 78thesweepstakes [Affiliate User] 1206895633 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveBy the way Jean Genie is spelled in this way. The line "He's outrageous, he screams and he bawls" play over Dali's work...any connection?
By knockaraven [Affiliate User] 1206895053 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI love "Jean Jeanie" I love the bit about "Poor little greenie" showing Munch's death of the patient. Cyrinda Fox was an actress who starred in commercials for Jean Genie jeans. Legend has it that Bowie wrote this in Fox's apartment in an effort to entertain her
