  • I agree with you ...

I agree with you about the defence thing...but if you catch someone unaware they might find it hard to recover from the first one...think of fighters 'caught cold' and not recovering, even tho they are expecting to be hit from the start, ive seen in competition a few times ppl getting caught with the same technique a few times in a row, prob thinkin every time they wouldnt do it again. for the knockout part? its quicker this way

  • sometimes a softer ...

sometimes a softer body punch makes more damage, than a hard face one. sometimes, if you're specialised in that kind of attacking.

  • i do Wing Tsun ( ...

i do Wing Tsun (Leung Ting's own style), but i would never say that any of the MAs are better than another. a fight depends on so many things. weight, strenght, technique, the type of the MA, but if you mastered your own MA (you never will, 'cos you can learn new things until you die) you can beat everyone. it's an interesting even, when two masters get infront of each other =)

  • wing chun is better ...

wing chun is better to fight one vs one or one vs the nº you want...
boxing can be more applicable to real life but if you put a boxing master and a wing chun master im sorry to dissapoint you but the boxer goes to the floor in 1 min or 2.

simple I go to wing chun kung fu and we wear practicing this move and we wear wearing don't know how to say...hmmm a protector or something ....anyway its protecting your chest..I got hit by it and every punch was pressing out the air from my lungs and I could barely breath...people who say that they could take it and just follow with a haymaker or a hook never got punched by this...even if you notice being punched its heavy to block(my mother langue is not english so sorry for the bad grammar)

  • You can't strike ...

You can't strike the head as fast as you can the chest. Also, when you strike the head, it puts your body in more of a "position of weakness", opens up your rib cage to attacks. From what I can understand, you're trying to be in the position of strength while executing this move.

  • notice how the fist ...

notice how the fist is vertical and not horizontal like you're slamming your fist down on something, I find this more comfortable than regular punching

  • In theory this ...

In theory this looks kinda effective, but i'm sure if your fighting anyone with a basic knowledge of defence, in practice it would be nearly impossible to carry out. Not trying to antagonise anyone... just wondering why this would ever be used... especially as the opponents face/head is wide open. Why would you not just land the blows there to achieve a knockout???? I am just starting out in MMA, so if someone could explain I would apprichiate it. Cheers

  • its pretty good ...

its pretty good martial art I think....we learn how to defend ourself against basic moves that our opponents might use(with a little knowledge)in a street fight. We learned this wing chun chain punch that we can practice at home...and I gotta say that this video doesn't tell everything hot to do the chain punch.

oh and sorry for the late reply!

  • Sorry in what ...

Sorry in what respect? I am curious as bruce lee incorporated lots of boxing and he was wing chun trained. Maybe as a martial art, but i think you should look at the video wing chun masters fight with two top exponents and all that happens is they end up on the floor punching each other. Boxers spar for real so they know what they do works, the problem with learning technique without a resisting opponent is that when it is real you cant handle it. Thats why boxing is more applicable to real life
