Hi, my stagename is Dan Dare. I am the guy in the white t-shirt playing the congas.
This was recorded at the brick bar on the Khao San Road in bangkok.
This musical piece is by Santana, and its called Samba Pati.
This was totally unrehersed and improvised on the spur of the moment.
This is the type of percussive music I've created throughout my musical life all over the world.
After a lifetime of traveling the world play live as a jazz percussionist for most of my adult life in smoke filled bars and music venues, I end up with COPD.
NOW I CANNOT EVEN THINK ABOUT GETTING ON A PLANE.
I've HAD TO SELL MY DJEMBE BECAUSE I CAN NO LONGER LIFT IT AND NOW MY GUITAR SITS PROPPING UP THE WALL.
NOW with emphysema (COPD) I can hardly breathe.
COPD stands for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.
People who suffer from it describe it as feeling like they're suffocating.
COPD is the UK's fifth biggest killer - killing more people every year than breast,
bowel or prostate cancer. It is estimated 3.7 million in the UK have it, but most
don't know they are affected by it.
I have so much more to give musically to the world, thats why I must go for
autologous stem cell therapy in Beirut.
Please donate whatever amount you can to help me continue with my music for
another ten years. Send your donations to:
Thank you for your kind generocity.
