The Paris series presents the major monuments and tourist attractions of the city, its monuments, parks, museums and best-known shopping areas, while also providing a picture of daily life within the world's most popular tourist spot. Each title features a special topic which allows students to hear native French speakers presenting aspects of the city. Full transcriptions are provided on the accompanying CD-ROM.

Sights and Sounds of Paris: Part One begins with views of the Eiffel Tower, the symbol of the city. We then explore the bustling Avenue des Champs-Élysées with its many fashionable stores, followed by a visit to the tomb of the unknown soldier under the Arc de Triomphe, before moving on to the Obelisk on the Place de la Concorde. In the Hôtel des Invalides we admire the tomb of Napoleon Bonaparte. A cruise on a Bateau-Mouche down the River Seine takes in the many bridges and glimpses of daily life on the embankments. A visit to Notre-Dame is followed by a stroll through the quaint streets of the Ile-St-Louis, and finally an entertaining glimpse of the Place du Tertre in Montmartre.
SPECIAL TOPIC: an employee of the Bateaux-Mouches presents various aspects of their ever-popular cruises upon the River Seine.
