Great vid! To clear things up-Thermal Compound is a MUST. It also has to be applied paper-thin. If you have too much it insulates and cannot move heat through to the heatsink properly. Same with too little. Moderation is key here. If you are freezing after attempting this mod and have blocks/etc showing up, replace the thermal paste. You most likely have too much and the processor is overheating (assuming your screws are tightened up to the correct tightness, you want snug, not overly-tight).

By penis3x69 [Affiliate User] 1227325480 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removemy fan was stopping after a few seconds so i tightened screws and tried to over heat and cool down and i still got 3red lights. i bought the llama kit with the proper screws and nylon washers, but i used silicone base heat sink compound made by radioshack. could that be the problem?

By TM0NEY163 [Affiliate User] 1227057267 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveSome questions after watching:
1. Normally the amount of thermal paste for use on cpu/gpu = "grain of rice" Seems you used a fair bit more? Also what kind of thermal paste are you using and don't you need to fold it out with a creditcard or something?
2. Do you need to screw the mobo back on the chassis BEFORE or AFTER the overheating process?
3. These 8 black screws were made fit for these studs which were removed from the heatsinks. Will these black screws fit in the screws from your kit?
If you order the kit from the link in the info then follow the instructions and not be a dumb ass and F**k up, it works fine. I didnt even have to overheat mine.
By Angelsmalice [Affiliate User] 1227019909 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removeonly saying: but id use something more heavy then that thermal paste... something like Arctic silver should do the trick bit better
By LordEthan2 [Affiliate User] 1227013418 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveIs it ok if i just use the metal washers? also if there is other alternative way instead of using the nylon washers? Thanks in advanced

By drummingfool90 [Affiliate User] 1226957514 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveThanks to your vids I was able to fix my Xbox 3 rings of death also. I used Artic Silver 5 for my thermal paste and reused the original xclamps. Getting them back on was harder than taking them off. Also I used my wife's fingernail polish remover to clean the CPU and GPU heads as well as the heatsinks before putting on the Artic Silver 5. Xbox works like brand new again.
