Can aikido be taught to kids with adhd.btw the vids are great

The position of the hands and the direction ki is projected is different. Some schools HAVE stopped teaching Gokyo and incorperate it into Ikkyo.

Just my humble thought.
Wow. That is a huge compliment, and one that I would love to live up to. Thanks for the encouragement followjesus2. I'll be posting more one of these days....

By Fineandhandsome [Affiliate User] 1210551645 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveI see. I have to wonder as to why O'Sensei taught them seperately, knowing that they were very similar. He even seperated them so as to make Gokyo a MORE advanced technique then Ikkyo. In my exprerience, I HAVE found that the omote or entering form of Gokyo tends to be less effective on larger and stronger uke than Ikkyo. I can only wonder.
By Deke101 [Affiliate User] 1209877082 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down RemoveJust to answer Eayne's question: With Ikkyo, the controling hand grabs with the thumb pointed towards uke's elbow. With Gokyo, the controling hand grabs with the thumb pointed toward Uke's fingers. Also the finnishing pin in Gokyo usually ends in the back of Uke's hand pinned to the floor with his elbow pointed upwards. It is true that some schools have quit teaching Gokyo. My school still teaches it.

I don't even teach gokyo as it's own separate technique anymore. This is a personal preference and one that I see mirrored in much of the aikido community.

By Eayne [Affiliate User] 1209829086 Reply Spam [+0] Moderate Up Moderate Down Removehey Gary can u do a video on Mune Tsuki ikkyo? I'm having trouble working with taller people I seem to end up to far away on the initial takedown...
OSU!
Gary san, isn't that GOKYO? With the controling hand reversed, it is VERY similar to Ikkyo. We use it more often with knife attacks.
