I don't mean to ...
I don't mean to sound like a know it all but there's IS another mammal that lays eggs like a platypus. The echidna! They are called monotremes I believe.
And yes male platypus have poison spurs on their hind legs. They are so weird. Cute though!
I'm an Aussie, so I learnt all about them when I was very little ^-^
