Parachutist Col. Joseph Kittinger, in 1960, took a helium balloon to 102,800 feet above the earth, then jumped out--breaking the sound barrier on descent. He discusses his world record for the highest parachute jump with Forbes Adventurer Jim Clash. Frenchman Michael Fournier has spent 2 decades and $20 million trying to break Kittinger's record, but so far without success.
